Refinishing is the process of sanding down your floors to the bare wood, re-staining them to your choice of color, and then applying a polyurethane sealant. When using oil-based polyurethane, we apply 2 coats and gently sand between coats. With water-based polyurethane we apply 3 coats, sanding between coats 1 and 2, and scuffing between coats 2 and 3. Your floors will be thoroughly cleaned and dusted prior to each coat. After 2 to 4 days the homeowner is left with a finish that is as close to perfection as humanly possible. While still delivering a high-quality service our expertise allows us to deliver our refinishing service at a very affordable price.
Our exclusive resurfacing system gently sands off light scratches, scuffs, ground-in dirt, and dullness. Where refinishing can change the color of your floors, resurfacing will NOT affect the color and does NOT sand away any wood. The process will brighten floors but will leave you with the same color and tones you have come to love. Starting at only 99¢ per square foot, this process is our most cost-effective and generally can be completed in a few hours, rather than days. This process can be used on any type of wood and provides remarkable results.
There are pros and cons to each method, but rest assured that we will help you decide on the service that is best for you. We will never push you into a service that you don’t need. Some people don’t mind a deep scratch here and there, as it may add some character to your floors. Households with pets or children will no doubt have some deep scratches, and removing ALL may very well be a temporary fix. There are many questions to answer and we here at Fabulous Floors Nashville are here to help.
Our process is practically dust-free. Mounted on all of our equipment are vacuums that pull most of the dust. After our service is provided there is only a very light coat of dust on the floor that is vacuumed up afterward. But what makes our process so special is that no airborne dust is generated, NONE! Rest assured that we will leave your floors cleaned and dust-free.
For resurfacing, the only smell is a very light, pleasant aroma. We only use waterborne products that are “Greenguard” certified.
The GREENGUARD Certification Program helps manufacturers make – and helps buyers identify – interior products and materials that have low chemical emissions. The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute, part of UL Environment, has the mission of protecting human health and quality of life by improving indoor air quality and reducing chemical exposure. Overall, this system helps to improve the environment and the quality of the air we breathe!
It is key to treat pet accidents when they are fresh in order to maintain your hardwood floors. We have outlined a few steps below to help you with the problem, but if these don’t work, the urine has probably soaked into your flooring and more serious hardwood floor restoration work is needed. Removing the stain depends on a lot of factors. While we are fairly confident in our ability to remove any pet stain, it is important to contact us immediately to determine the severity of your stain.
Mix together a solution that is 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water. It is a good idea to prepare a spray bottle to be prepared for any little accidents that may occur. Scrub the area thoroughly. After you’ve made sure that the area is clean, wipe it clean, and then wipe it clean AGAIN. It is important NOT to use anything with ammonia. Pet urine has ammonia in it and will trigger to your pets that the area cleaned with ammonia is the place to urinate.
